The IT trends of 2024

At SevenLab, we strive to be at the forefront of technological evolution. In 2024, several IT trends will significantly influence the playing field of technology and software development. Let's take a closer look at five of these trends.

    Democratised generative AI

By 2024, generative AI will become even more accessible, so you could say the technology will be "democratised". Generative AI, which can independently generate content such as text, images and code, will become further available to a wider audience thanks to rapid expansion of open-source platforms and cloud computing. Increased accessibility opens doors for any organisation to innovations in content creation, data analysis, and the conversion of images and audio into usable data. At SevenLab - as a custom software developer - we gratefully take advantage of these new opportunities to develop personalised generative solutions that go far beyond traditional software functionalities and give our customers a big edge in their market.

    Phygital convergence (AR/VR)

In 2024, the line between the physical and digital worlds will blur further in what we call 'Phygital Convergence'. With Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), we will create experiences that connect the physical and virtual worlds. One example is the development of digital twins (digital twins), which virtually mimic physical objects or processes for analysis and simulation. These technologies enable us to develop innovative and interactive applications, which can be of great value in both business and consumer markets. One big question open for 2024 is at least whether Meta's "Metaverse" will break through to the general public.

    Cyber resilience

Cyber resilience is crucial at a time of increasing digital dependency and cyber threats. It is not only about preventing attacks, but also about the ability to recover quickly after an incident. At SevenLab, we integrate strong security measures into our development processes, aimed at ensuring application security and strengthening the resilience of systems against cyber threats. We also ensure strong security when hosting all our applications.

    Software 2.0 and automation

Next year will be the year for software 2.0, where AI and machine learning will be central to the development process and transform how we build software. AI effortlessly writes out a piece of code for you, but the quality is often still poor. However, with the exponential growth of AI applications, AI is expected to be able to solve more and more complex, context-dependent meta-problems. For the developers at SevenLab, AI is already a regular partner in the development process. For now, still a supporting tool, but who knows how we will talk about it by the end of 2024!

    Growth in APIs and microservices

One non-reversible trend that will continue next year is the increasing complexity of the global IT ecosystem. This trend manifests itself through the rapidly increasing use of APIs and microservices, and highlights the shift towards modular and flexible software architectures. By increasingly breaking down complex applications into smaller, self-contained parts, we can develop and respond to our customers' changing needs faster and more flexibly. At SevenLab, we see this as an opportunity to build more efficient, customisable systems that seamlessly meet our customers' specific requirements. Each trend presents unique opportunities and challenges. At SevenLab, we are dedicated to leveraging these trends to provide our customers with the most advanced and secure software solutions. By being at the forefront of these developments, we help our customers succeed in the digital age of 2024 and beyond.
