We have therefore listed the 5 most important developments in 2018 that will dominate 2019.

    Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI is everywhere these days! According to research firm Gartner, by the end of this year, KI industry revenues will reach 70% from a year earlier. This clearly shows that AI will be a trend for at least the next few years. Companies are using AI technology to provide high-quality services and improve the customer experience. Some practical applications of AI include voice-activated home assistants, big data and smartphones.

    Blockchain

Blockchain became a real technology trend because of Bitcoin. By now, that craziness has passed. But blockchain has long since had its applications far beyond bitcoin. It is a network of interconnected computers for storing data or information that cannot be altered or stolen by anyone. Blockchain development is rapidly gaining ground. Blockchain makes authentication of large-scale transactions a snap and eliminates the need for expensive intermediaries; saving a huge amount of money! For example, IBM launched its IBM Blockchain platform last year and it is working with banks, governments, distributors and more such organisations. Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle have also indicated they are moving forward with blockchain technology.

    Progressive Web Apps (PWA)

The websites or web pages that look and work like native mobile apps or conventional apps are called progressive web apps (PWAs). PWAs offer the benefits of mobile experience along with the convenient features of browser technology. Gartner had already mentioned PWAs as a trend in software development in 2017. It is likely to remain a trend in 2019 as these apps are less complex to develop and maintain compared to conventional mobile apps.

    Low-code development

Although low-code development has only been around for a short time, the technology has been growing faster in businesses. It allows developers to build software without much expertise in coding and offers a faster way to build and deploy applications. There is an increasing number of user experiences in favour of low-code as a fast and agile platform for building large business applications.

At SevenLab, we do not use this technique, as sometimes you quickly run into limitations. We choose to work with standard frameworks such as Laravel, Angular and Vue. We develop our own components for these, which also allows us to build software faster and faster.

    Cybersecurity

Cyber security experts are preparing for a year that will break records when it comes to the number of cyber attacks and threats. Preventing this starts with educating and raising employee awareness, using scalable next-generation cyber security solutions and gaining an understanding of the threats affecting your business or industry. It is therefore imperative to be aware of the latest cyber security solutions and technologies. So that you can stay ahead of the perpetrators and effectively protect your critical business processes and information.
